AMSilk GmbH, the world’s first industrial supplier of synthetic silk biopolymers, will be presenting their new encapsulation technology from October 10 to 12 at booth B351.
AMSilk GmbH, the world’s first industrial supplier of synthetic silk biopolymers, is proud to introduce its plastic-free, vegan silk-based encapsulation technology at SEPAWA Congress 2018, one of the largest forums for companies across the cosmetics, perfume and cleaning industries in Europe.
AMSilk’s new encapsulation technology addresses one of the principal shortcomings of cosmetics ingredients: degradation. Active ingredients within many cosmetics are sensitive to a variety of changes in their environment, including temperature, light, pH and oxidation. Microcapsules were developed to protect these active ingredients from degradation and enable them to reach their destination in a safe and controlled way. Further, microcapsules provide the added benefit of increased capability to add unique features to products, such as fragrances, vitamins, colorants, natural oils and exfoliating ingredients.
AMSilk has utilized its synthetic silk platform to create microcapsules for cosmetic products that are high-performing and biocompatible, protecting the core active ingredients from early release and supporting their stability within the capsule prior to release.
“As the personal care industry continues to grow, consumers are demanding products that are both sustainable and high-performing,” said AMSilk CEO Jens Klein. “We are excited to debut our new encapsulation technology at this year’s SEPAWA Congress and are eager to work with brands committed to building a more sustainable cosmetics industry.”
AMSilk is looking to utilize its technology to enhance the performance and persistence of a variety of anti-aging ingredients, pigments, vitamins, antioxidants, and active substances in common use across cosmetics. Among the first applications will be perfume oils, as AMSilk’s microcapsules can prolong the release of the fragrance, and additionally, the plastic-free, high-performance capsules can be developed for both water and oil-soluble cosmetics.
The new, plastic-free encapsulation technology will be presented in a lecture on Wednesday, October 10th at 12.15 pm at the ‘Forum of Innovation Personal Care’ at the exhibition (room 3). AMSilk will be located at booth B351 at this year’s SEPAWA Congress.
