Flat pedal Shoe Series AM Moab: A new level in Bike & Hike

New sole – new grip

For the summer season 2019 VAUDE has completely revised the Moab line of All Mountain footwear introduced three years ago. With a newly developed outsole and a specially designed rubber compound from SUPtraction, the updated Moab series takes Bike & Hike to a whole new level. Four different flat pedal models in mid cut and low cut versions offer the perfect footwear to meet your individual needs for trail and park.

VAUDE’s first waterproof flat pedal shoe, Moab AM MID STX, was well received on the bike scene at its launch back in 2015. For the newest edition of this shoe, VAUDE focused specifically on the construction of the outsole. This included an in-depth analysis of the position on the pedal, the pin placement of the different flat-pedal models, as well as foot roll mechanics while walking. After an intensive development and test phase involving several prototypes and field testing together with the mountain bike athlete Andi Wittmann, VAUDE is now ready to present its innovative sole concept. In combination with SUPtraction’s specially developed rubber compound, the outsole provides perfect grip on the pedal and good traction while walking. Andi Wittmann is enthusiastic about the results of the intensive field testing for the new AM Moab line: “Our feet are responsible for direct power transmission to the bike, but also to the ground. For me, the AM Moab Tech is the perfect blend of the best possible ergonomics ensuring protection from foreign objects together with grip on the pedal, easy handling and cool optics.”

Grip and traction with SUPtraction soles

All four of the new AM Moab Series models are outfitted with the innovative AM Flat outsole for a new level in bike and hike activities. The multi-level hexagon tread pattern in the pedal area combined with the soft SUPtraction rubber compound provides perfect grip on the pedal. At the toe and heel, the sole has a deeper tread that provides the necessary traction when you need to carry or push your bike. The hexagon tread works like fish scales that wedge into the ground when walking for excellent traction whatever the ground surface. A toe cap and heel cap protect from stones and other impacts. The lining materials contains 40 % recycled materials. The four models of the AM Moab series also have an anatomic insole. A shock-absorption element provides additional protection at the heel.

The 4 models differ in the upper materials as well as in features that determine the best use for the shoe.
